ALTIUS SCULPTURE - MTK SPORTPARK

ART TO ENHANCE THE VISITOR EXPERIENCE AND DEVELOP THE CITYSCAPE

The MTK Sportpark, built on a plot of 95,000 square meters, is a special new component of the city landscape in Budapest in many ways. While its size, location, modern technical equipment and event-friendly design make it unique in itself, it is a community space where, in addition to pure functionality, enhancing the visitor experience, consistent brand and image building and aesthetic aspects also played a prominent role during its planning and construction. Contemporary art end design also effectively contributed to ensuring a positive visitor experience and enhancing the specialness of the venue.

The investor MTK Budapest's openness and sensitivity to art and design, and the recognition of the special opportunities inherent in the arts, created a unique opportunity for EDGE Communications to contribute in a complex way with valuable, unique artistic content to increasing the value and shaping the image of such significant public investments as the New Hidegkuti Nándor Stadium and the MTK Sportpark. The express aim of the outdoor and indoor artistic and creative interventions, which encompassed numerous genres, including sculpture, contemporary design, photography and graphics, was to display the image elements of the sports club and the specific institutions, strengthen the brands, enhance the visitor experience and highlight the unique nature of the locations.

For the development of the artistic and design components of MTK Sportpark, our agency established a dedicated creative team to carry out the tasks, which outstandingly met the high quality expectations set by the client, the site conditions and the needs of the audience, during both the creative process and the realization of the artworks. Thanks to the large-scale public sculpture titled ALTIUS by Áron Zsolt Majoros, erected at the entrance to the complex, and the interior design solutions of DBE.FURNITURE (founded by Bence Ádám Kiss), MTK Sportpark and its surroundings contribute to the city image and the attractiveness of Budapest as a spectacular and valuable element.

The inauguration ceremony of Majoros’s sculpture and the artistic and creative elements of the building was held as a special event of BUILDING ON ART, HUNGARY, the platform created to connect art with real estate developments. As a large-scale public investment, the MTK Sportpark spectacularly exemplifies how creativity in various artistic branches can contribute to increasing the value, uniqueness and usefulness of a real estate development. The artistic and design interventions, thanks to the sensitivity of the client and the creativity and flexibility of the creators, organically fit into the overall image and institutional function of the building and the park.
