PHOTO CIRCUS

A residency program is an unusual artistic initiative founded in cooperation with one of the world’s
leading circuses

Our artist residency program PHOTO CIRCUS created in cooperation with the Capital Circus of Budapest aims to promote art photography and circus art, to foster cooperation between performing and visual arts and to support the creative work carried out in Budapest by important international photographers. The selected artist is introduced to the Hungarian photography scene and is given first-hand access and insight into the unique world of circus art and the everyday life of performing artists. The program ends with a representative exhibition. Ivana Tomanović, a renowned Serbian photographer joined the program as its first resident artist. Her works reflect a unique and delicate artistic approach to the subject, a selection of her photographs of circus performances, rehearsals and behind-the-scenes activities taken as a member of the circus community was presented as an outdoor exhibition in front of the main entrance of the Budapest Circus, and a complete show was dedicated to her works at the international photography fair Art Photo Budapest, realized in cooperation with the Serbian galleries Bel Art and Zvono.
